In partnership with the Alcon Foundation and Fort Worth ISD, we provide comprehensive eye exams and eyewear for eligible kids of Fort Worth ISD.
We understand the importance of clear vision when it comes to academic success, and want students of FWISD to have easy access to comprehensive eye exams and quality eyewear, all at no cost!
We travel to elementary schools across FWISD providing eye exams and eyewear for eligible students on site, but also have a clinic for all other eligible FWISD students to come visit for an appointment.
Working together with school nurses and plenty of certified volunteers, vision screenings occur on site at school. Any student failing vision screenings is referred to have an exam. Those unable to obtain care through insurance or local providers will have an eye exam consent form sent home.
Once we have received parental consent, our team brings the clinic to the school to perform comprehensive eye exams on site at the school. Appointments can also be made for eligible students at our clinic as needed.
If glasses are needed, students can pick any frame from our offering at no cost. Once the glasses are made, our optician will return to the school to dispense the glasses to the student.

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Our clinic is mobile during the school year when our team is at various Fort Worth ISD schools providing eye exams. During the rest of the year, appointments will be available Monday through Thursday from 8:00-3:00 and Friday from 8:00-1:00.
If your student is in Pre-K through 5th grade, there is no need to make an appointment. The Alcon Children’s Vision Center team will be going to the elementary school campuses during the fall semester to complete their eye exams. For any follow-up appointment, parents/guardians will be notified and your student will be directed to the primary clinic location.
If your student is in 6th through 12th grade, please text us at (682) 628-2531 for available appointment times.
To make an appointment at our clinic, you will need to contact your student’s school nurse to request a referral. Your school nurse will send the referral to Alcon Children’s Vision Center. You will then be instructed to text our clinic at (682) 628-2531 to schedule your student’s appointment
No. Alcon Children’s Vision Center is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive eye care services and materials to eligible FWISD students free of charge. We do not accept any form of payment or insurance.
No. All materials will be provided by Alcon Children’s Vision Center free of charge.
Eligible FWISD students will receive one pair of glasses through Alcon Children’s Vision Center. If they are lost or broken, one replacement pair will also be offered at no charge. Any additional replacement pairs are not covered, but options to purchase at an affordable price at an outside optical will be provided. You may always request a copy of your child’s glasses prescription to purchase glasses at an outside optical.
We are unable to use outside frames at this time. If you choose to allow Alcon Children’s Vision Center to provide glasses for your child, they must pick from the frame selection provided. However, you can always request a copy of your child’s glasses prescription to purchase glasses at an outside optical.
Alcon Children’s Vision Center is able to provide comprehensive eye care for eligible students of FWISD. This includes but is not limited to: eye infections, red eyes, minor eye injuries, foreign body removal, etc. At this time, we still require a referral from your child’s school nurse before making an appointment. Any office visits and follow-ups will be directed to our primary clinic location.
You are welcome to continue care with your local doctor. Alcon Children’s Vision Center is a need-based resource available to FWISD students who have not been able to establish care with an outside provider.
Yes. If your child requires a referral to an outside provider, our staff can work with you to find a provider that accepts your insurance, if applicable.
The American Optometric Association recommends that children have their first eye exam between 6-12 months of age and again between 3-5 years of age. Children should then have one before first grade and annually thereafter. Providers for children 6-12 months of age may include a pediatric ophthalmologist or an optometrist enrolled in the InfantSee program (https://www.infantsee.org/find-a-doctor?sso=y).
